Is Motorwatch really free?
Yes. The Motorwatch browser extension is free to use, and you don’t need to sign up to see the price history it makes available.
Where does the price history come from?
Motorwatch records asking prices observed when people using the extension browse supported vehicle websites. If a listing hasn’t been seen before, its history starts when it is first observed. It isn’t a complete record of every price a seller has ever advertised.
Can Motorwatch help me negotiate a better price?
Motorwatch gives you facts to bring to the conversation: recorded asking-price changes, how long we’ve tracked a listing, and available MOT insights. You can use these to ask more specific questions and decide what to offer. The seller decides whether to negotiate, so a saving isn’t guaranteed.
Does ‘days tracked’ tell me how long a car has been for sale?
It tells you how long Motorwatch has observed that listing, starting with our first recorded price. The advert may have been live before then. Treat it as useful context, rather than the exact age of the advert.
Which websites and browsers can I use?
Motorwatch is available for Chrome, Firefox and Safari on Mac. Supported vehicle websites include AutoTrader UK, PistonHeads, Cinch, MCN, Carwow used cars and the Auto Express marketplace. Coverage varies by browser and website, and can change when a website is updated.
Does a price drop mean a car is a good deal?
It gives you useful context, but it doesn’t tell the whole story. Compare the vehicle’s age, mileage, trim, condition and history before deciding. Advertised prices are not confirmed sale prices.
Do I have to give you my email?
No. You can use the extension without an email address. Email is optional: if you’d like it, we’ll send the weekly or monthly market report for the make, model and year you’re shopping for. Reports may include one clearly labelled sponsor message, and every email has a link to stop.
